Anywere from verry simple and quick, to insanely complicated and verry time consuming. You can make really good beers using malt extract, and be done making 5
gallons in 3 hours, or you can go all grain and spend 8+ hours making a 5 gallon batch. I would suggest reading "How to Brew" its a free on-line book
and will give you preaty good insighte into it.
Considering that my first batch has only been in the bottle 2 weeks, the only job that I qualify for at a brewery is sweeping up. I may even need classes to qualify for that too. 
You can get every thing you need to make a batch of beer for around 130 bucks. counting you first extract beer kit. Just find a Homebrew shop neer you.

Thank you very much. She's gotten so much bigger in just the last 2 and a half months (she's 12.7lbs now and 25 inches long). Kids grow damn fast.
