According to Brandon Sanderson's website he is 99% done
with the first draft of Memory of Light. I think I'll begin my final re-read of the series ever after I finish with the Baroque Cycle (which should be
soon). At the slow rate with which I will be able to read, when I finish, the final book should be out.

He is now at 103%, which means he's at around 412k words in the rough draft form. no word on actually how close he is on finishing the rough draft.

How can you be 103% done with a rough draft. Anything extra is just going to be cut later. gorsh.

There is a serious risk of this being split into 2 books.

Yeah, it sounds like he's not even that close to finishing at 109% I'll still buy both books if it ends up being 2 books, but I don't want a long
wait in between. If the book is done being written, they will need to publish the whole thing ASAP.

I agree they need to be published asap.

The extra 3% just means that he did more than he had to.

True, but considering the last couple of books, I would like an extra 3%. unless its three percent of crap. Think I can sue to get back the nearly 10 years I
have spent posting on this board?

No, you won't ever get them back. Relish the times you spent spamming the night away.

Its finally come down, they are splitting it into 3 volumes to be published over 2 years starting late 2009. By the time this series is done, we may have people posting here who wernt born when the bord was created.

I saw this yesterday. I swear, I am gonna punch someone in the nuts. I just want to be done with it at this point! I now own the entire series in Hardcover,
and now.. I either buy 3 more books at hardcover prices (you can bet your ass I'm waiting to buy those Hardcovers used or off the discount rack) or get
stuck with an incomplete collection. I understand the rational behind splitting it, but it still pisses me the hell off.
These books better be damn good. |

Ronin, you realize you'll likely have to do another re-read before the next book is finally published, right? Just wait until the publication date is set
and re-read the last 1 or 2 books. There's probably a very in depth WoT wiki out there in case you've forgotten anything about the plot or characters.

I'm actually halfway through the series again, on a slow occasional reread (I'm reading "the Name of the Wind" as my full time read) just
about finished with Fires of Heaven. I figured if I read it slowly enough, I'd get to the end just about the time the FINAL book came out.. now it looks
like it will only be in time for the NEXT book in the series.

If you read like me, you'll keep reading WoT and then finish 5 months early because you started to get back into the books.

That might happen, but I'm simultaneously reading other stuff. (just finished "the Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss and I recommend it to
folks looking for a new quality Fantasy series) I'm about halfway through LoC at this point, so I'm certainly not hurrying.
